All on personal devices, all in defiance of corporate policy. This shadow AI usage is not some fringe phenomenon—this is the new normal.

GenAI has upended the traditional technology adoption curve. When computers emerged, enterprises led the charge while consumers waited for prices to drop. The internet and mobile phones followed similar patterns. Not GenAI.
